COUNSELLING & COACHING IN CHESHIRE AND MANCHESTER

Welcome to EvenMind Counselling and Coaching

A confidential space to explore the thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life

My name is Audra McKellar and I am a counsellor and life coach providing both short and long-term therapy to adult individuals and couples in Congleton and surrounding areas, throughout Cheshire and online.

Counselling and therapy in a safe, comfortable and private setting

As a counsellor, my role is to give you a safe, confidential place so that you can talk to someone who won’t judge you and can help you make sense of things and understand yourself better. Thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence. Counselling can help you resolve complicated feelings or, indeed, find ways to live with them. It can also help you recognise unhelpful patterns in the way you think or behave and give strategies to change them.

Together we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives - and perhaps a new understanding of yourself. Counselling isn’t about giving you solutions or advice, but empowering you to make your own changes.

Integrative counselling is a type of therapy that uses many different techniques that suit your particular circumstances, thoughts and behaviours rather than making you fit into one particular ideology. I also like to take a holistic approach as mind and body are completely intertwined and, as such, I like to look at how some simple lifestyle changes could help your mental health.

As a fully-qualified counsellor I am a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and abide by their code of ethics.

What issues can counselling help with?

People come to me from all walks of life and for help with a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through counselling:

Feelings of stress or anxiety

Panic attacks

Relationship problems

Grief, loss or bereavement

Problems with addiction

Trauma and post-traumatic Stress

Abuse

Depression

Problems with confidence or Self-esteem

Anger management

Issues relating to sexuality

Difficulties at work or in retirement

Problems with family or uni life

Adult ADHD

ADHD Clarity Mapping

ADHD Clarity Mapping is a structured, non-diagnostic two-session package. The aim is to help you understand what is getting in the way day to day, especially if you suspect ADHD traits or struggle with executive function (the skills involved in planning, organising, managing time and follow-through). The goal is to map your patterns clearly and create a practical plan you can start using straight away.

Here are a few of the issues that ADHD Clarity Mapping can help with:

  • Planning and prioritising (everything feels urgent / not knowing where to start)
  • Procrastination and task initiation (“I can’t get going”)
  • Time management (lateness, overruns, underestimating time)
  • Organisation and life admin (clutter, piles, paperwork, losing things)
  • Working memory slips (forgetting steps, losing your train of thought)
  • Impulsivity (scrolling, switching tasks, spending/snacking, reacting quickly)
  • Stress tolerance and overwhelm (shutting down, feeling flooded, snapping)
  • Emotional reactivity and recovery time

What are the advantages of ADHD Clarity Mapping?

It is a focused, practical way of getting clarity without committing to long-term therapy. You leave with a clear summary of what is going on for you and a one-page Executive Function Action Plan (simple routines, systems and a quick reset for overwhelm). It can be helpful whether or not you decide to pursue a formal diagnosis.

There is, of course, the opportunity to have further support afterwards, either through additional 1:1 sessions if needed, or by continuing with a self-led course to help you embed the changes.

Why Life Coaching?

When was the last time you felt you were living up to your true potential? In control of your life? Engaged in fulfilling relationships at work and at home? The chances are that you can't really remember. Life just sometimes gets in the way and all of a sudden, you are where you are and you're not sure how to get back on the right path. Sometimes you just feel stuck. Coaching can help you to unlock your potential, have the meaningful career, obtain peak performance in all areas of your life and have richer, more rewarding relationships.

How is Coaching Different?

A life coach is trained to help you see where you are now and then work with you to find ways for you to move forward. In this way they help you fulfil your potential, identify and acknowledge obstacles and ways of moving past them. This is often an action based approach. It is also a very collaborative and a coach will help to keep you accountable and focused on the path that you have planned. At the same time you will identify the obstacles that hold you back and work out strategies to overcome them.

How Can Life Coaching Help?

Working together I can help you with confidence, relationships, work-life balance, identifying your purpose, your sense of self and identity, addressing your triggers for anger and frustration and prioritising your own needs. Life coaching can guide you and provide the tools for you to see things from a different perspective, to open your mind and expand your vision of life and what you can do with it.
