A confidential space to explore the thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life
My name is Audra McKellar and I am a counsellor and life coach providing both short and long-term therapy to adult individuals and couples in Congleton and surrounding areas, throughout Cheshire and online.
As a counsellor, my role is to give you a safe, confidential place so that you can talk to someone who won’t judge you and can help you make sense of things and understand yourself better. Thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence. Counselling can help you resolve complicated feelings or, indeed, find ways to live with them. It can also help you recognise unhelpful patterns in the way you think or behave and give strategies to change them.
Together we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives - and perhaps a new understanding of yourself. Counselling isn’t about giving you solutions or advice, but empowering you to make your own changes.
Integrative counselling is a type of therapy that uses many different techniques that suit your particular circumstances, thoughts and behaviours rather than making you fit into one particular ideology. I also like to take a holistic approach as mind and body are completely intertwined and, as such, I like to look at how some simple lifestyle changes could help your mental health.
As a fully-qualified counsellor I am a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and abide by their code of ethics.
People come to me from all walks of life and for help with a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through counselling:
Feelings of stress or anxiety
Panic attacks
Relationship problems
Grief, loss or bereavement
Problems with addiction
Trauma and post-traumatic Stress
Abuse
Depression
Problems with confidence or Self-esteem
Anger management
Issues relating to sexuality
Difficulties at work or in retirement
Problems with family or uni life
Adult ADHD
Single session therapy Single Session therapy is one session of therapy where the goal is to focus on the issue most bothering you with a view to kick starting the process of implementing change and taking the first steps towards a solution.
Here are a few of the issues that Single Session Therapy can help with:
Particular challenges
Getting more out of life
Relationship issues
Feeling that something just isn’t right
Can’t see the wood for the trees
Find a particular situation hard to navigate

It is a proactive way of ‘staying ahead’ of any problems. It is more solution focused. Access to a therapist is quicker as you are not waiting for a regular slot to open up, You may feel that you don’t need longer term therapy.
There is, of course, the opportunity to have more sessions either as single sessions, as and when you need them, or a more traditional course of therapy.
When was the last time you felt you were living up to your true potential? In control of your life? Engaged in fulfilling relationships at work and at home? The chances are that you can't really remember. Life just sometimes gets in the way and all of a sudden, you are where you are and you're not sure how to get back on the right path. Sometimes you just feel stuck. Coaching can help you to unlock your potential, have the meaningful career, obtain peak performance in all areas of your life and have richer, more rewarding relationships.
A life coach is trained to help you see where you are now and then work with you to find ways for you to move forward. In this way they help you fulfil your potential, identify and acknowledge obstacles and ways of moving past them. This is often an action based approach. It is also a very collaborative and a coach will help to keep you accountable and focused on the path that you have planned. At the same time you will identify the obstacles that hold you back and work out strategies to overcome them.
Working together I can help you with confidence, relationships, work-life balance, identifying your purpose, your sense of self and identity, addressing your triggers for anger and frustration and prioritising your own needs. Life coaching can guide you and provide the tools for you to see things from a different perspective, to open your mind and expand your vision of life and what you can do with it.
As a fully qualified counsellor, Life Coach, Clinical Hypnotherapist, accredited NLP Master and EFT Practitioner, accustomed to working in the corporate world, I am superbly positioned to guide you.
It will be a rewarding, challenging, life changing and sometimes fun experience, probably with a few twists and turns that we can navigate together.
I work from private offices located conveniently in the centre of Congleton CW12 and see clients from all over Cheshire including Alderley Edge, Bramhall, Nantwich, Sandbach and Alsager.
In addition to providing face-to-face therapy, I also offer online sessions for clients via a secure online platform. Online sessions have proved immensely popular and are very effective and convenient.
Counselling sessions for individuals last 50 minutes, usually taking place on a weekly basis, and cost £60 per session. I also provide a limited number of spaces for those on low-income or for students; contact me to enquire about availability. I offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation so that you can ask me questions about counselling and so that we can get to know each a little before our first session.
Single Session Therapy is £60 per 50 minute session. Coaching sessions are £60.
